چکیده
Background: Incidence of fall armyworm in maize has been reported at a severe level since 2018 resulting low yield and extreme cases complete failure the crop. In view undesirable effects unilateral reliance on chemicals, greener avenues like intercropping needs to be explored, which promise subside pests, as well as, provide higher income cultivators. Method: Field experiment was conducted from 2019 2021consecutively for three years investigate consequences with legumes viz., red gram (Cajanus cajan L.), black (Vigna mungo green radiata L. ), cowpea unguiuculata groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) soybean(Glycine max incidence cost economics involved. Result: Among different intercrops studied, maize+cowpea recorded significantly lowest mean per cent infested plants (45.0 cent) 75 days after sowing par maize+green (45.5 cent). The next effective system maize+black (55.7 followed by maize+red (58.2 Maize sole crop highest (76.3 sowing. equivalent (SEY) systems under study ascertained that achieved SEY 5230 kg ha (5160 ha) (4900 ha). Upon comparison benefit ratio (BC ratio), proved most profitable BC 4.11 maize+ (4.05) (3.85), whereas, minimum 2.87.

An evaluation of yield in "intercropping of maize and potato"
Abstract To find out how maize and potato can grow and develop in an intercropping system rather than each grown alone in a sole cropping system the following factorial experiment was performend in the frame-work of a randomized complete block three replications in the experimental farm of the faculty of agriculture, Zanjan University in year 2004. Different potato to maize ratios of (1:0), i...
متن کاملCry1F Resistance in Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda: Single Gene versus Pyramided Bt Maize
Evolution of insect resistance to transgenic crops containing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes is a serious threat to the sustainability of this technology. However, field resistance related to the reduced efficacy of Bt maize has not been documented in any lepidopteran pest in the mainland U.S. after 18 years of intensive Bt maize planting. Here we report compelling evidence of field resistan...
متن کاملMaize-grain legume intercropping for enhanced resource use efficiency and crop productivity in the Guinea savanna of northern Ghana
Smallholder farmers in the Guinea savanna practise cereal-legume intercropping to mitigate risks of crop failure in mono-cropping. The productivity of cereal-legume intercrops could be influenced by the spatial arrangement of the intercrops and the soil fertility status. Knowledge on the effect of soil fertility status on intercrop productivity is generally lacking in the Guinea savanna despite...
متن کاملModeling seasonal migration of fall armyworm moths.
Fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith), is a highly mobile insect pest of a wide range of host crops. However, this pest of tropical origin cannot survive extended periods of freezing temperature but must migrate northward each spring if it is to re-infest cropping areas in temperate regions. The northward limit of the winter-breeding region for North America extends to southern regi...

The soils are highly permeable, acidic in reaction and are extremely deficient in all the major plant nutrients. Sesamum is mainly grown in Kerala as a sole crop in the summer rice fallows of Onattukara tract. The c...
